Magnus #1
Dynamite
Writers: Kyle Higgins, Chuck Wendig
Artists: Jorge Fornes, Alvaro

A brilliant mix of psychology, philosophy and science fiction. Kyle Higgins (of Nightwing and Batman Beyond fame) brings a nuanced vision of what society will be like when the machine begins to think on their own. This is one reinterpretation nobody possibly could have seen coming.

Darth Vader #1
Marvel
Writer: Charles Soule
Art by: Giuseppe Camuncoli

Cinema’s greatest villain returns in his own series! Taking place directly after Revenge of the Sith, witness Vader as the true badass he is. This story sets out to explain the origins of his Sith Lightsaber, as well as his days hunting down the last of the Separatists and the Jedi. Giuseppe Camuncoli’s art is film accurate. It honestly looks like this icon has leapt off the screen onto the page.

Bug! The Adventures of Forager #2
DC’s Young Animal
Writer: Lee Allred
Pencils: Mike Allred

Oh, we Kirby now! The Allreds continue to knock it out of the park with this time travel tale of titanic tonnage! The fact the there’s a book on shelves that features not only Forager, but also the Losers, Sandman and Sandy the Golden Boy and the original Blue Beetle is baffling (in a wonderful, “kid in a candy store” kind of way).

And there you have it folks, this week’s newest recommendations. Go out and pick these up at your local comic shop or on Comixology.com! Happy Reading!
